Granite Reef Senior Center
Dorothy Nolan was extremely active in her community. She was a teacher with the Florence Middle School and Sacaton Public Schools. Before her retirement, she was a district manager for Field Enterprise Education Corp. She had a life-long interest in youth and served as a Girl Scout leader & Cub Scout Director.
She was an advocate for seniors and served several terms on the Arizona Advisory Council for the Aging. She organized a local group to work on the problems of aging, which eventually led to the White House Conference on Aging.
Dorothy helped to organize the Pinal Council for Senior Citizens and served as their first president. She served on the Advisory Council for the Central Arizona College adult education. She was a member of the CAC Woman’s Barbershop Chorus and her church choir. Mrs. Nolan served as Past Noble Grand of the Rebekah Lodge and Chief Matriarch of the Ladies Encampment Auxiliary. She was a member of the Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce, Pinal County Development Board, Pinal County Historical Society and she volunteered on many local charity organizations. She was the mother of two children and had several grandchildren, as well. Dorothy will always be remembered for her dedication to seniors. Her memory lives on at the Dorothy Nolan Senior Center!
